Best vegan camping cooking tips
If you are pondering too much over your next vegan camping food and do’s and don’ts, here’s a tiny little check list at your ease.
- Note down your diet plan and grocery shop for all the thing you may need, prior to the trip. Try to Optimize it as much as possible
- Prepare some snacks and easy (to avail, cook and store) foods in advance
- Use minimal and one-time-use utensils for less time to clean up and easy to carry
- stock up on some raw materials
- Prepare yourself as much as possible with cooking supplies and other relevant logistics.
- If you are not sure if you can have access to fire for cooking, then you will have to carry a portable stove (electric or battery or gas or any liquid fuel). If you have fire access, then don’t use the stove. Its only for when you don’t have enough fire to cook.
If you have a Recreational Vehicle (RV), then its different story, but if you haven’t then avoid taking a lot of stuff for eating and cooking with you. You actually don’t need much for cooking and eating while you are camping. It will give you a lot less stress and save you a lot of time.
Don’t forget to pack core stuffs like: plates, bowls, knives, forks, spoons, cups and mugs, camping stove, great for cooking on the fire, hot dogs roasting sticks, one frying pan, salad bowl, tongs, spatula, bin for trashes, plastic wraps,dish soap, dishcloths for washing and clean up, tablecloth, extra food storage containers for leftovers, couple of good water bottles so you stay hydrated, and a small cooler, etc.
VEGAN CAMPING WITHOUT COOKING AND/OR FRIDGE
If you don’t want or can’t get the opportunity to cook while you are on camping, here some tips for you.
You can pack some of the following along with you in case you can’t cook
- Sliced bread or bun
- Canned vegetables (such as beans, mushroom), cucumber, tomato and lettuce
- Or canned fruits, (such as pineapples, corns, or fruit cocktail)
- Tinned potatoes and other tinned vegetables
- Tinned fish- tuna, or sardines in tomato sauce
- to make a great vegan sandwich or burger to feed yourself. Not in just breakfast, you can eat those for lunch and dinner too very easily. Also,try to freeze as much as you can. Small milk, Tomato ketchup, even cheese. This helps keep food fresh.
If you lack a cooler/fridge or don’t get the chance to use it, you may pack the following
- Hotdogs in a jar
- Dried noodles
- Dried vegetables like tomatoes, onions, red peppers, green peppers,and mushrooms
- Dry Lentils and Beans
- Soy Sauce
- Snack and Energy Bars

- Fresh fruits like banana, apple,and orange that can be stored and carried well
- Dairy-free plant-based milk (I:e Almond milk)
- Tomato ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, soya Sauce (you can make sauces as per your preferences)
- Sliced bread, hamburger bread,and hotdog buns
- Oat Meals.
- Vegan graham crackers, marshmallows,and chocolate
- Tomatoes, onion, cucumber,and lettuce for sandwiches
- Salt and pepper
- Canned chickpeas and black beans
- Fruit syrup and ingredients for pancakes (you may get a pre-made pancake mix too)
- Peanut butter, jam-jelly
- Nuts or prepared trail mix for snacking

VEGAN LUNCH IDEAS
You’d want to make camping lunches very easy with minimal clean up required so you can get back to enjoy spending your leisure on reading favorite books, listening to favorite music, swimming and relaxing.
One of the easiest vegan lunch idea and pleasant all the time. Sliced pineapple in there is my all-time favorite. You can make these on bread or roll up in a wrap.
SOUP AND SANDWICH
You would obviously love a warm soup and easy sandwich while camping. It’s easy, comforting as well as tastes awesome. You may also add some avocado, tempeh, hummus and lettuce in your sandwiches.
MASHED CHICKPEA AND WHITE BEAN SALAD SANDWICHES
Get some store-bought canned chickpeas and blend it beforehand, pack some canned white bean too, and you are ready for easy, smashed chickpea and white bean salad sandwiches. You can try some diced pickles, red onion, cucumber and tomato slices, and either avocado or vegan mayonnaise. God! I am hungry again!!
PLAN-BASED RECIPES FOR VEGAN CAMPING DINNER

Have a decently big salad with a portion of mixed veggies to go along with your dinner-burgers. Pack a few plastic boxes of raw spinach and some established branded salad dressing for quick and easy salad recipes. Try a blackberry-Spinach Salad by adding red onion, walnuts,and sliced blackberries or mashed chickpea and pour inside your burger! Your dinner-burger is ready to serve!
PASTA AND VEGGIES WITH TOMATO SAUCE
Pasta is really quick and easy dinner to cook while camping. You can make it in one pan by boiling your pasta first, draining and rinsing and then just adding some tomato sauce and any veggies you want to mix them up.
Add a bunch of fresh spinach and pasta sauce to make it easier yet delicious. I used to make some garlic bread to have along with this while I was on the camping.

Mashed potato, garlic, mushrooms,and onion are can be some of the compulsory ingredients in your veggie packs. Cheap veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes work fine too but you also may try some broccoli, zucchini, peppers, cabbage or any other vegetables you want!
